The LA Forum Goes Hollywood
After the resounding success of the Storefront for Art and Architecture's LA pop-up store (featured on our March show), the LA Forum is opening its own space in Hollywood. The organization is taking over the Hollywood Center for Community Research and Design managed by Woodbury University, right in the thick of it on Hollywood Boulevard. And this Friday, August 29 is the grand opening of their new headquarters.
Of course, the headquarters of an architectural organization needs to be designed--and designed well--so the LA Forum also sponsored a competition to design the interior, which resulted in a shortlist of five fine LA-based firms: Oyler Wu Collaborative, F-Lab, Kuth Ranieri Architects and honorable mentions for assembledge+ and Pablo Maida Architect. The winning proposal, which you'll see in its full glory Friday night is Pendulum Plane by Oyler Wu Collaborative. Hot young architects Dwayne Oyler and Jenny Wu also did the striking Density Fields piece at Materials & Applications earlier this year.
